ABOUT CARLO

Carlo Gardella is the managing partner of ADVISINGASIA. He is based in Bangkok and leads the firm’s focus on helping companies grow in emerging Asian markets.

​

Carlo has extensive experience serving Italian and multinational companies – especially in automotive and packaging – on a variety of topics including alliances and strategic partnerships, set up of new production facilities, marketing and sales, performance transformation, and product development.

​

He started his professional career in the packaging industry in Asia, supervising the production facilities and developing the sales network in Thailand and in The Philippines.

​

Later, he served the automotive firm IVECO s.p.a. (affiliate of Fiat Chrysler Automobiles-CNH Industrial) as general manager in South-East Asia, covering Thai market and opening a new market in Indonesia.  

​

For the same company, he then joined the team in charge of negotiating a JV in Nanjing (China) with a leading Chinese carmaker and afterwards he promoted the sales and managed the distribution network across Middle-East and Gulf countries.

​

Later, Carlo has led the industrial and sales operations as CEO of India Operations in Mumbai for another automotive firm, Landi Renzo s.p.a., building a new factory from scratch—including conducting a feasibility assessment, developing the business plan, negotiating of a joint-venture agreement, securing regulatory approval, and recruiting local management and the sales and engineering team.

​

Moved back to Bangkok in 2014, Carlo has been appointed as CEO of a software house providing business continuity solutions to major players (financial institutions, air carriers, etc.).

​

He is the founder of AdvisingAsia, where he helps automotive, packaging and industrial firms build their presence in South-East Asia, by setting up manufacturing facilities and developing new distribution-network strategies.

​

Carlo holds a MA with honours in Political Sciences from Pavia University, in Italy.

​

He is fluent in Italian, English and French; he speaks Thai as well.
